Advancements in Assistive Tech: The CYBATHLON’s Impact. The CYBATHLON is an international competition that challenges teams to develop assistive technology for people with disabilities. The idea for the CYBATHLON came from a professor at ETH Zurich who was inspired by a man climbing the Willis Towers with a leg prosthesis. The competition aims to promote the development of assistive technology and make it accessible to a broader audience. Teams are made up of developers and pilots who compete in eight different disciplines. The challenges of the competition include making the event accessible for people with disabilities and streaming the competitions online. The CYBATHLON contributes to the advancements in assistive tech by working with end users and pushing the boundaries of technology. The competition creates a special atmosphere where anything is possible and teams develop creative solutions. The focus of the competition is on meaningful tasks and fair competition. The most promising discipline is the brain-computer interface race. The CYBATHLON can be followed on their website and the races will be streamed live in October.
